The Texas Trail Running Eco Series
Here, you'll find rules, eligibility requirements, scoring notes and other important information for The Texas Trail Running Eco Series.
ULTRA CUP and ECO CHALLENGE
The Ultra Expeditions Texas Trail Running Eco Series offers runners a chance to experience 8 unique races through 7 amazing ecoregions. The Challenge is split into three tracks. A runner can compete in one, two or all three paths.
Ultra Cup Team - A competitive track where teams compete for points
Ultra Cup Individual - A competitive track where individuals compete for points
Eco Challenge - A completion track where Individuals complete all 8 Eco Series Races over a 2 consecutive year time frame - award size is based on points
REGISTRATION
Please read all the registration rules and and requirements, carefully.
Ultra Cup - Team

The Team one time entry fee is $20 / year. Entry fee cover administrative activities, awards and other miscellaneous costs.

Teams are comprised of a minimum of 2 individuals with no maximum number of individuals.

Team Captains must register a team name on the Team Registration Page by January 10, 2020.

Individual team members can join a team any time throughout the race year.

An individual runner must be officially registered as part of the team for their individual points to count toward the team. Points from any previous races, will not be applied to the Team.

An Individual can only be registered as a member of one Team.

It's the responsibility of the Captain to manage their teams.

All runners are responsible for their own race registration.

Ultra Cup - Individual

Individual entry fee is FREE

Individuals can sign up at any time throughout the race year.

Eco Challenge

SCORING
Ultra Expeditions is using a Distance Based Point formula for The Texas Trail Running Eco Series.
formula: score = (Wt / Yt) * Bp
Key
Wt = winning time (gender specific: male and female)
Yt = your time
Bp = base points
Base Points (Bp) Earned
100m = 100 base points
100k = 62 base points
50k = 31 base points
26.2m = 26.2 base points
13.1m = 13.1 base points
10k = 6.2 base points
5k = 3.1 base points
Individual Runners
Scoring begins after a person has completed one qualifying race.
Teams
The top 10 individual runner points within a registered Team will count toward the total team points for the series.
Eco Challenge
This completion challenge also uses a Points Based formula to determine the award size / level. Longer races earn more points toward a larger award.

Results
After each race the results will be updated for individual race and accumulative race details for every team and all individual runners, to date.
Tiebreaker
A tiebreaker sequence only applies to the end of the year series rankings.
1. The high score at the last race in the current series
2. In the case their is still a tie, it will be decided by a coin flip
AWARDS and RECOGNITION
AGE GROUPS
Your age is set for the entire year based on your age at the time of the first race in the series. Not the first race you run in the series.
29 years and under
30 - 39 years
40 - 49 years
50 - 59 years
60 years and over
Ultra Cup Team Awards
First Place team receives $500 in cash and prizes, a trophy and TEN 50% off race entries to next year's series, up to a $500 value.
Second Place team receives $250 in cash and prizes, FIVE 50% off race entries to next year's series, up to a $250 value.
Third Place team receives $100 in cash and prizes, THREE 50% off race entries to next year's series, up to a $150 value.
Ultra Cup Individual Awards
First Place Male and Female in each age group win 50% off each race in next year's series. Up to $400 value.
Second Place Male and Female in each age group win 25% off each race in next year's series. Up to $200 value.
Third Place Male and Female in each age group win 10% off each race in next year's series. Up to $100 value.
Ultra Cup Masters Awards - age 50 and over
First Place Male and Female win 50% off each race in next year's series. Up to $400 value.
Second Place Male and Female win 25% off each race in next year's series. Up to $200 value.
Third Place Male and Female win 10% off each race in next year's series. Up to $100 value.
Eco Challenge Awards
All runners who complete all 8 Texas Trail Running Eco Series races over a 2 consecutive year timeframe from time of entry will win an award, recognition on social media and the Ultra Expeditions Website. This completion challenge also uses the Distance Based Point System listed above to determine the award size / level. Longer races earn more points toward a larger award. Awards will be given at the end of each year.
AWARD DISCLAIMERS

An individual who wins more than one competition with a 50% discount prize, only receives one award of 50% - whichever is the greater value. The awards cannot be combined.

The Team awards stays with the team. If an individual leaves the team, they are not able to claim the award as an individual or as a part of another team. Furthermore; it is to the discretion of the Team Captain how the awards are used. (e.g. raffled as gifts, given to the runners who earned the most points, etc.)
