The Race

The Course

Texas runs deep in the historic town of Mineral Wells. From its founding in 1877 to its boom after the healing properties of its water were discovered to its revitalization now, Mineral Wells has a deep history. This is why we have partnered with Crazy Water to bring you the 1877 Ultra.


Held in the hills of Palo Pinto county at Lake Mineral Wells State Park, this event will not only challenge you but allow you to experience all of what the area has to offer. Run through the protected trails of the Western Cross Timbers region. Swim in its expansive spring fed Lake Mineral Wells. Explore shops, restaurants, and more amongst the old world charm of its downtown. And all just a short drive from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. If you’re looking for more than just a race come spend a weekend with us in this uniquely Texas getaway town.

Start and Finish Times

The Start and Finish will be near the Cross Timbers Trailhead parking lot.

  • 7:00 am                       50k Race Start

  • 8:00 am                       5k, 10k and 25k Race Start

  • 3:00 pm                       Cutoff all distances

Race Briefings:  Begin promptly, 20 minutes prior to race start time, at the start line.

NOTE:  All races start at the scheduled time.  Late starts will not be accommodated.



The cutoff for all distances is 3:00 pm. 

Course Markings

The race will be marked with in ground flagging, color coordinated directional signage, hanging flags and cones for each race distance.​

2 = Moderate course over rolling countryside on a mix of rock and dirt trails










Aid Stations

Well stocked Aid Stations manned by passionate volunteers, provide

  • First Aid:  Band-Aids, Vaseline, and other basic first aid supplies

  • Food/Drink:  Water, electrolyte drinks, and various salty, sweet and savory snacks


Aid stations will be conveniently located every 2-3 miles on the looped course.​

Cupless Race

This is an environmentally friendly race and it is our goal to keep the trails litter free to preserve their beauty. 


Cups won't be supplied during this racing event.  Please bring your refillable water bottles and we will refill them at the aid stations.

Training / Coaching

At every level, proper training can help you prepare for success. Ultra Expeditions has certified coaches and offers individual and group training packages. Contact us for more information.

Race Shirts, Medals and Awards

Everyone registered will receive an Urban Ultra Race Shirt if they register by September 15, 2021.


Finishers of the 5k, 10k, 25K, and 50k will receive beautiful, custom designed medals.

Winner Awards


Top Male and Top Female for each race. Awards will be emailed after the race ends.

SATURDAY – October 2, 2021

6:00 am                Shuttles begin running from the Trailway Trailhead

                              parking lot inside the park (Mandatory that all racers 

                              and spectators present online purchased park pass)

6:00 - 8:00 am     Packet Pick Up/Registration at Cross Timbers


7:00 am                50k Race Start

7:30 am                Last inbound shuttle leaves from Trailway Trailhead   

                              parking lot

8:00 am                5k, 10k and 25k Race Start

9:00 am                Outbound shuttle services start from Cross Timbers 


3:00 pm                Cutoff all distances

NOTE:  It is mandatory that all racers and participants purchase park passes online for the day of the race. Otherwise park entrance and shuttle ride will not be permitted)


Race briefings begin promptly, 20 minutes prior to race start time, at the start line. Racers may only register for each event up until that distances start time. Racers may only drop in distances prior to race start. If they choose to drop during the race they will receive a DNF.
