The Trail Race

The Course

This is the newest state park in the state of Texas. This is your chance to experience the Palo Pinto Mountains. This unique park hosts lakes, mountains, cedar and oak forests, and rocky terrain. Run almost entirely on on ranch roads, the loop course will follow a route made up of rock, dirt, and rolling terrain. Be sure to reward yourself at the end with the Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas at Mary's Cafe before leaving.

As home to the hill country race in our eco series, you won't want to miss this unique chance to visit the newest state park in Texas.

Start and Finish Times

The Start and Finish is at Palo Pinto State park near Strawn, Texas. The coordinates of the start/finish are Latitude 32.550100 Longitude -98.531092

  • 6:00 am - 50 mile Start

  • 7:00 am - 26.2mi

  • 7:30 am - Half Marathon Start

  • 8:00 am - 5k and 10k Start​

NOTE:  All races start at the scheduled time. Late starts will not be accommodated. 

 

CUTOFFS

The cutoff for all distances are as follows:

SATURDAY – May 15, 2021

  • 4:00 pm -   5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon cutoff. All 

                           50mi racers must start their last lap

  • 9:00 pm -   50 mile cutoff

Course Markings

The race will be marked with in ground flagging and color coordinated directional signage for each race distance.​

Results

Aid Stations

Well stocked Aid Stations manned by passionate volunteers, provide

  • First Aid:  Band-Aids, Vaseline, and other basic first aid supplies

  • Food/Drink:  Water, electrolyte drinks, and various salty, sweet and savory snacks

  • Drop Bags: For distances of 50 miles racers are allowed to place drop bags at aid stations. Drop bags will need to have the aid station clearly marked on them and placed in the designated location at the start/finish area by the cutoff time. Drop bags will be returned to the start/ finish area as the course is picked up. Please see itinerary

LOCATIONS

Aid stations will be conveniently located every 3-4 miles on the loop course.​

*Some aid stations may be unmanned

Cupless Race

This is an environmentally friendly race and it is our goal to keep the trails litter free to preserve their beauty. 

 

Cups won't be supplied during this racing event.  Please bring your refillable water bottles and we will refill them at the aid stations.

At every level, proper training can help you prepare for success. Ultra Expeditions has certified coaches and offers individual and group training packages. Contact us for more information.

Race Shirts, Medals and Awards

Everyone registered will receive an Hidden Hills Ultra race shirt if they register by April 28, 2021.

Finishers of the 5k, 10k, 13.1mi, 26.2mi, and 50mi will receive beautiful, custom designed medals based on availability.

Winner Awards

 

Top Male and Top Female for each race. Awards will be emailed after the race ends.

5 - 8 am       Packet Pick Up/Registration at the start/finish

6:00 pm       All 50mi racers must start their last lap

9:00 pm       Cutoff for 50mi

NOTE:  Race briefings begin promptly, 20 minutes prior to race start time, at the start line. Racers may only register for each event up until that distances start time. Racers may only drop in distances prior to race start. If they choose to drop during the race they will receive a DNF.
